Eugene Masselus (1881-1952) - Sfeervol stadsgezicht.

A atmospheric post-impressionist oil painting by the Flemish painter E. Masselus. The work captures the historic and devotional atmosphere of an old begijnhof (probably the Begijnhof of Kortrijk, today recognized as UNESCO World Heritage). With an expressive thick brushstroke he brings the unique architecture to life. The iconic red-orange stepped gables contrast beautifully with the authentic whitewashed walls and the figures in traditional costume. Where Masselus often depicted this beloved cityscape in smaller formats, this specific panel measuring 70x55 cm is a particularly large, and rare, very detailed execution within his oeuvre. The frame is not included in the offer, but is included free of charge. Shipping only WITHIN the EU.
