Expressive Turquoise & Diamond Cluster Ring in Two-Tone Gold, 1980s

Special powers have been attributed to turquoise since time immemorial. The ancient Egyptians, for example, carved small animal figures from the sky-blue stone, which were worn as lucky talismans. In the Middle Ages, it was believed that turquoise could prevent falls from horses and protect its wearer from poisons of all kinds. Above all, however, the turquoise inspires with its unmistakable color, which is also shown by the stone in the center of this vintage ring. The stone, cut into an oval cabochon, is set in a simple golden frame; brilliant-cut diamonds are arranged all around it and also sparkle in 18-karat yellow gold settings. The goldsmith who handcrafted this ring has noted the carat weight of the gemstones in the ring band. This tells us that the turquoise weighs 7.86 ct and the 34 brilliant-cut diamonds together weigh 0.72 ct. The solid ring band is made of white gold. The design in the form of an entourage ring is timeless and is given an unusual touch by the elegant diamond setting on the white gold ring shoulders. We received the ring from Berlin-Dahlem.
