Exquisite Ring with a 3.03 Ct Emerald-Cut Diamond in Platinum, From

Diamonds with rare cuts are a special treat. Modern brilliant cuts can be found everywhere. Unique cuts, however—such as the emerald cut of the large diamond in this ring—are much rarer and make a diamond a truly one-of-a-kind gift. The emerald cut is an octagonal cut that, as the name suggests, was originally developed for emeralds. It features a large table and is stepped down toward the sides. This allows the eye to glide very well into the stone. With emeralds, this allows the stone’s colour to shine through beautifully. With diamonds, it creates a unique play of light, as the wide facets of the lower section reflect light brightly and over large areas: With a very good cut, as seen here, the diamond sparkles brightly and uniquely. The diamond weighs 3.03 ct and has a slightly warm tint (Tinted White+ / K). Inside, there are very small inclusions (SI1) in the form of fine, light-gray specks. To the naked eye, without a loupe, they have no effect on the stone’s brilliance. A single, slightly larger, light-colored inclusion is located beneath the table. The diamond comes with an independent appraisal from Idar-Oberstein. Our goldsmiths have set the diamond in a platinum setting. It is securely held in place by four prongs running lengthwise along the finger. The two-part ring band is set with small, sparkling brilliant-cut diamonds to the right and left of the center stone before it crosses downward and joins to form a wide band. A small detail that makes this ring, not least, a perfect gift of love. All the diamonds in this ring come from vintage pieces of jewellery from the 1980s. We also recovered the platinum from old pieces of jewellery. The ring was crafted entirely in Germany. The diamonds are, of course, natural.
