Fender Mustang first generation from 1965, produced in the United States. Neck dated with stamp 8 JUN 65 B, serial plate L-series L92885. Body and finish. In 2014 a luthier removed a synthetic white spray paint layer applied in the past. The traces of the original Blue remaining underneath guided repainting of only the body. According to the owner, a nitrocellulose-type was used, but there is no chemical verification. In twelve years a natural checking has formed. The guitar has not been reliced. Neck and fingerboard. The owner reports that the neck finish is original and was not touched in 2014. The patina is clearly visible. The fingerboard is vintage rosewood with a nice grain (the exact species is not certified). Hardware. Six Kluson Deluxe tuners of the historic type. The fourth tuner button (high E string) is lighter and more rounded: the button or the entire tuner may have been replaced. Headstock. The Fender logo is present. The “Mustang” inscription is missing, removed by previous owners. Electronics. The pickups and pots look period-correct. Full codes and originality are not certified. Setup. In 2014 the luthier made a removable wooden shim to adjust the neck angle. According to the owner the action is optimal and there is no fret buzz. The shim is reversible. Photo 24 shows the seat without shim. The action has not been measured with tools. Playability. According to the owner it sounds good.
