Ferrovie dello Stato / Deutsche Bahn - Railway Historical...

*** ITALIANO *** Rare and exceptional historic international railway collection for a railway museum (Italy / Germany), dating from the mid-20th century (approx. the 1950s), consisting of a total of 4 original period pieces with a splendid patina of time. The lot documents the historic Piedmont railway network and its international operational exchanges in the post-war period. The lot comprises the following pieces, complete with specific measurements: 1. THREE DOUBLE-SIDED DESTINATION / DIRECTION SIGNS (PIEMONTE): Made of heavy stamped iron sheet and fire-painted in the antique process. They feature the typical and fascinating archival graphics with bold black characters on a white background. They are original line operation boards, designed to be turned by railway staff at the end of the run depending on the direction of the train: - TORINO / TORINO (Size: 40 x 15 cm): Double-faced with the same inscription, designed with a taller height to ensure maximum legibility at the terminus of the station. Equipped with the original iron suspension hooks and the coeval iron wire still mounted. - CASALE / ALESSANDRIA (Size: 50 x 10 cm): Bi-directional line sign. On the right side it bears the original and very rare archival red-write inscription "DEP. CASALE" (Casale Depot), an internal departmental marking attesting to its official provenance. - VERCELLI / CASALE (Size: 50 x 10 cm): Second bi-directional line sign, mirror-imaged to the previous one, from the same identical historic supply lot. 2. ONE DOUBLE-SIDED HANDHELD SIGNAL WITH OFFICIAL "DB" MARK (DEUTSCHE BAHN): A heavy metal signal paddle with a shaped handle and a top through-slot (Size: 38.5 x 16.5 cm). The front presents its honeycomb reflective surface from the era with the classic alternating white and red chevron motif (St. Andrew’s Cross). The item is an original institutional piece from the German Federal Railways, as certified by the prestigious "DB" mark clearly printed and hot-stamped onto the metal. The instrument remained integrated in the Italian station compartments following post-war international train exchanges. * CONDITION AND INDUSTRIAL PATINA: Excellent vintage condition from an authentic depot/ workshop find. All pieces are structurally sound, solid, and free of deformations. They display a magnificent and genuine patina of time with surface rust blooms, signs of wear, and small traces of missing paint, attesting to their absolute historical value and authenticity. The objects have not been deliberately cleaned or restored to preserve their integrity and original "Industrial Antique" charm. A lot of great visual and historical impact, ideal for discerning collectors of railway memorabilia (Railwayana), fans of industrial antiques, or as exclusive decor pieces for lofts, studios, and commercial premises. *** ENGLISH (DESCRIPTION FOR EUROPEAN BIDDERS) *** Rare and exceptional historic collection of international railway memorabilia (Italy / Germany), dating back to the mid-20th century (approx. 1950s), consisting of 4 original vintage pieces with a stunning time-worn patina.
