FIFA World Cup - 1998 - Mascot

Here offered: a rare original Footix plush from 1998, made to promote the FIFA World Cup France 98. This concerns a striking 37 cm tall version of Footix, the official mascot of the 1998 FIFA World Cup in France. Footix represents a French rooster and was designed in the recognizable French colors blue, white and red. What is special about this specimen is the original Gillette promotional edition. Gillette was an official sponsor of the 1998 World Cup and, like the other official partners, had the right to use Footix for promotional items. ([Le Monde.fr][1]) The **Gillette ball** Footix holds makes this edition clearly recognisable as a promotional piece. **Specifications:** * Mascot: **Footix** * Event: **FIFA World Cup France 98** * Year: **1998** * Promotion: **Gillette** * Height: **ca. 37 cm** * Material: plush * Original vintage promotional item * Featuring **FRANCE 98** on the chest * With the original Gillette football Regular Footix plushes offered today are often around **25 cm** tall; museum collections document, for example, an official 25.2 cm version. This **37 cm Gillette edition** is therefore a notably larger specimen. ([Mucem][3]) The piece is in **good vintage condition**. The colors are still bright and the print **FRANCE 98** is clearly visible. The ball shows, as is common with older plastified balls, some cracking. See the photos for the exact condition. A special collectible for enthusiasts of **France 98, Footix, vintage football memorabilia and advertising/promo items from the 1990s**.
