Khmer Art (Cambodia): In Cambodian art, statues of apsaras or divine figures may also have their hands in a position of blessing or protection. This gesture is common in the religious art of the Khmer Empire (9th-13th centuries). Devotional Context: This gesture is used to convey blessings and tranquility to devotees. Statues with this position are often placed on altars to invoke protection or spiritual tranquility.
