Although different in form, the two pieces display beautifully together and represent two interesting styles of early 20th-century miniature porcelain decorative and sewing-related collectibles. 1. German Full-Body Porcelain Accordion Player A particularly appealing full-figure porcelain doll, depicting a seated young boy or child playing an accordion. The figure wears a traditional-style white costume decorated with delicate blue and red hand-painted details, a tall white cap, and striking bright red shoes. He holds a beautifully modelled accordion across his body, decorated with alternating fine red and blue stripes. Unlike a conventional half doll, this is a complete three-dimensional porcelain figure, with the entire body, crossed legs, shoes and musical instrument represented. The underside is clearly marked “Germany” in the porcelain, confirming German manufacture. The figure is in excellent antique condition, with no chips, cracks or repairs noted. The young lady has a fashionable short bobbed hairstyle, delicately painted facial features and blue drop earrings. She wears a pale yellow bodice and is posed elegantly with her arms crossed in front of her. The porcelain figure remains attached to its small rounded pincushion, which is completely covered in elaborate champagne/gold ribbonwork, creating a wonderfully textured skirt. The porcelain half doll is in very good antique condition with no chips noted. The textile pincushion shows the natural ageing and wear expected from an approximately century-old piece but remains remarkably decorative and complete.
