First Class Rivière Bracelet With 10.91 ct Asscher Cut Diamonds, ca. 2010

Throughout history, diamonds have been cut in ever new variations, always in search of the optimal brilliance. In the search for ever more intense brilliance and fire, new cuts were constantly being developed and invented. The diamonds in this bracelet, for example, are cut in the Asscher cut. This special cut was developed as early as 1902 by Joseph Asscher in Amsterdam and was the first gemstone cut ever to be patented. It took a while, but with the Art Deco of the 1920s, the elegant geometric Asscher Cut became a great success. This bracelet also takes its cue from the jewels of that era, more specifically the simple elegant "line bracelets" of the 1920s. The Asscher Cut with its clear, geometric facets fits ideally into this reduced, yet always luxuriously designed form of jewellery. These bracelets are also known as tennis bracelets or rivières (French rivière = river), because with their diamonds set close together they wind around the wrist like a river of light. A total of 46 diamonds in the Asscher cut join together here to form a luminous band. They weigh a combined 10.91 ct and are fine white to white in colour throughout. The diamonds are only set at the top and bottom, so they blend together seamlessly. The high karat white gold of the setting visually recedes and subtly blends into the glistening band. The luxurious bracelet was created recently, but pays homage to Art Deco jewellery in its shape and setting. An independent appraisal confirms the quality of the materials used.
