A very scarce and richly illustrated first edition guide, with colour and monochrome plates. A very scarce first edition. In original publisher's green cloth binding. A practical and instructive guide to growing fruit, illustrated throughout. The work features a colour frontispiece, seven further colour plates, sixteen double-sided monochrome plates, and additional monochrome vignette illustrations throughout. Collated, complete. Several images of the author's wife are held by the National Portrait Gallery. Bound in original green cloth. Externally, very smart. Book has backwards lean. Mild bumping to extremities. Slight crease to spine. Book seller sticker to front paste down. Internally, firmly bound, with infrequent mild strain. Pages generally bright and clean, with the odd spot, handling mark, and infrequent mild cockling. Scattered spotting to text block edges. Very small loss to plate at p.113. Slight creasing to plate at p.129. Very Good
