A beautifully bound record of the PHOENIX COMPANY which appears to have been in the business of Fire Insurance. Part of what appears to be the Sun Alliance Insurance Group Archive. Beautifully bound in gilt decorated calf with a central company logo to the front board in red leather, elaborate gilt lattice tooling to the board edges and metal clasps to the fore edge of the boards. A unique record and fine binding. Only 45 pages of manuscript records of the revised operating 'principle' of this company. An interesting and unique record of its time Pages tanned. Loosely inserted is a sealed document in the name of Abraham Bracebridge of Athestone in the County of Warwick, appointing George Griffin, Stone Street, of Clapham his lawful Attorney. Provenance: no bookplates or signatures. Approximately 14 ¼ inches (36cm) tall.
