Flos - Erwan Bouroullec - Wall lamp - MAAP W3 - Paper, Metal

The Maap wall lamp by Flos stands out for its dramatic presence and its ability to transform the wall surface into a luminous field. The project arises from the desire to offer a wide, diffuse light source capable of enveloping the environment with a soft, uniform glow. Maap’s structure consists of a light-engaged element with multiple LED sources, supported by a cross-shaped fixture that serves as a magnetic anchor for the diffuser. The diffuser itself can be manually molded, suggesting an organic and mutable surface in which each installation assumes a unique configuration. The fixation system with magnetic elements allows rearranging the diffuser’s shape, introducing a dimension of direct, personal interaction with the object. The lamp lends itself to varied visual interpretations, evoking landscapes, maps, or enlarged cellular structures. Maap’s design approach favors lightness and formal freedom, inviting exploration of the relationship between light, matter, and space. The installation suggests use scenarios where the wall becomes the protagonist, welcoming a light source that adapts to the context and the environment’s needs. The lamp’s presence translates into an immersive visual effect, capable of accompanying both domestic spaces and public settings with a diffused and enveloping light.
