Folding screen - Kanazawa Gold Leaf (金沢箔) - Japan

Magnificent and large traditional six-panel Japanese miniature folding screen (Rokubuchi Byōbu), dating from the late Shōwa era (circa 1975-1990). This exceptional piece stands out for its craftsmanship and authenticity; unfortunately, unlike its twin which will be put up for sale, this one has LOST its official state gold macaron “Nihon Dentō Kōgeihin” (日本伝統工芸品) label, a highly regulated mark certifying Traditional Japanese Art crafts made by time-honored methods. The Kanazawa Gold Leaf confirms the provenance of the gilding: “Kanazawa Haku” (金沢箔). The inner panels of this Kin-byōbu are covered with genuine gold leaf applied by hand, as evidenced by the delicate square joint lines visible in light. High-quality finishes: the inner borders are outlined by superb red and gold silk brocade trims (Kire). The corners and hinges are protected by gilded metal fittings (Kanamono) bearing traditional motifs of stylized chrysanthemums. The reverse (back panel) is elegantly dressed in black fabric adorned with a geometric motif of white rosettes. Important dimensions: Height 55 cm with a total unfolded width of 113 cm. ATTENTION: it no longer has its Official Macaron, but its Twin is being sold in this sale, which allows us to authenticate this Wonder. Happy bidding to all. As with all my items auctioned on this site, this marvel has undergone no cleaning (just dusting) and no modification since purchase. Happy bidding to all. Please look carefully at the photos that are part of the description. Any damage not mentioned in the text but visible in the photos is considered described. No shipment outside the EU; if you are outside the European Union you may bid on one of my lots; however, no claims will be possible in case of problems during transport. Professional careful shipping, with signature on delivery and insurance.
