Alla auktioner / Leksaker & Samlarföremål / Folk Art Antique Rocking Horse - Toy - 1910-1920 - France
A charming antique wooden rocking horse with an expressive horse head and beautifully hand-painted decoration. The horse is richly decorated in a traditional folk-art style, featuring a carved mane, painted saddle and harness details, and an atmospheric pastoral scene across the lower body depicting figures, trees and countryside. The predominantly cream-coloured surface is enhanced with warm red, green and brown tones, with extensive hand-painted detailing and traces of gilding. The decoration has developed an attractive aged patina, with visible craquelure, paint wear and losses that add to its authentic antique character. The construction and decoration give this piece a particularly decorative, theatrical quality, making it an appealing example of antique children’s furniture/toy craftsmanship and folk art. It would also make a striking decorative object in an eclectic or country-style interior. Please study the photographs carefully, as they form part of the condition description. The neck is NOT damaged , it's just the way it's made Period: Early 20th century, possibly earlier Material: Wood, hand-painted decoration Style: Folk art / antique children’s furniture Length 85cm Height 47cm Depth 18cm Will be well packed plus extra shipping insurance paid by the seller
