Lovely Mid-Grade series of 1898 $5 Fr. 268. 1896 $5 Silver Certificate. PMG Very Fine 30. Standing not only as a testament to the skills of the engravers who labored to produce this design, but also a monument to detail. The $5 Silver Certificate issued under the Series of 1896 offers no shortage of intricate and small details. Exemplified by the vignette known as Electricity Presenting Light to the World and the triumphant symbolism expressed by the figures of Electricity and her cohorts. Here small details such as Fame's elbows or the facial features of Electricity demonstrate that no proverbial stone was left unturned by the engravers that prepared this design which is nicely reflected by this mid-grade example which deftly managed to avoid its share of small issues while navigating commercial channels. Estimate: $6,000 - $8,000. Click here for certification details from PMG.
