FRAGMENT OF A KISWAH EMBROIDERED WITH GOLD AND SILVER METALLIC THREADS, INTENDED FOR THE HOLY KA‘BA, SAUDI ARABIA, 20TH CENTURY Rectangular in shape, this fragment of the Kiswah is embroidered with gold and silver metallic threads on a black silk background. The panel features a central cartouche bearing an inscription in Thuluth script, surrounded by arabesque motifs and finely executed plant scrolls. INSCRIPTIONS: “Indeed, it is in the remembrance of Allah that hearts find tranquility.” Qur’an, Surah Ar-Ra‘d (13:28). DIMENSIONS: 67 × 88 cm
