Decorative still life from the early 20th century with a tin can and peaches – Oil on plywood panel – Hand-signed – In immersive gilded Baroque style a very atmospheric and decorative classical still life, expertly hand-painted in oil on a plywood wooden panel. This artwork dates from the early 20th century (ca. 1910) and is strongly inspired by the rich tradition of the Dutch Masters from the Golden Age and the still lifes of Jean-Baptiste-Siméon Chardin. The balanced composition features a characteristic tin can with a hinged lid, surrounded by beautifully detailed fruit: ripe peaches, deep-blue plums and walnuts on a dark wooden table. The work shows an impressive play of light and dark (chiaroscuro) that emphasizes the depth and texture of the objects. A striking feature is the fine, deep craquelure over the paint and varnish layers. This effect, typical of vintage oil paintings on plywood from this period, arose partly from an expert classical aging technique and partly from the natural absorption of oil by the dry panel over the decades, which enhances the authentic vintage appearance. The Frame: The painting is housed in a monumental, heavy Baroque-style frame with a thickness of no less than 3.5 cm. The frame is richly decorated with gilded stucco on wood.
