Title: Van Gogh Style Flowers ㅤ School: Catalan School (20th century) ㅤ Author: Francesc Riera Serra (1924–2001) ㅤ Style: Floral Post-Impressionism with Expressionist influences. ㅤ Technique: Oil on panel. ㅤ Condition: Overall condition in keeping with its age. There are light signs of aging on the surface of the painting and the frame. ㅤ Circle and artistic influence: ㅤ Francesc Riera Serra (1924–2001) was a Spanish painter of the 20th century whose work falls within figurative painting. The present floral composition allows linking his pictorial language with the Post-Impressionist tradition, especially due to the importance given to brushwork, material, and chromatic expressiveness. ㅤ The work shows a clear artistic influence of Vincent van Gogh, especially in the treatment of the flowers and the use of visible, richly textured brushwork. Stylistic connections can also be made with certain still lifes by Paul Cézanne and with the floral tradition of European modern painting. ㅤ The composition presents a delicate bouquet of white daisies arranged in a ceramic jar decorated with blue floral motifs. The flowers appear distributed spontaneously, with intertwined green stems and the petals oriented in various directions. ㅤ On the table, on both sides of the container, a small decorative figure and a goblet can be distinguished, elements that enrich the scene and give it a domestic and intimate character. ㅤ The background, worked with pinkish and beige tones, creates a warm and serene atmosphere, while the flowers stand out for their whitish petals and yellow centers. ㅤ The brushstroke is visible and expressive, with small accumulations of pigment that add texture to the petals and to the surface of the jar. ㅤ The composition offers a poetic interpretation of the floral still life, combining compositional simplicity, chromatic sensitivity, and Post-Impressionist influence. ㅤ It is accompanied by a wooden frame with wide moldings, aged gold finish, and a slightly textured surface. Its warm tone harmonizes with the painting’s pinkish background. ㅤ Observations: ㅤ The work may sustain damage during transport even with proper packaging.
