French school (XIX) - Eglise

Description Original drawing in mixed technique on paper, depicting an elegant architectural view with a basin and vegetation. The composition is organized around a building with classical architecture, topped by a small dome and surrounded by abundant vegetation. In the foreground, a basin creates a play of reflections that prolongs the architecture and the vegetation, bringing depth and balance to the composition. The artist combines drawing, wash, and color highlights, in a subtle palette dominated by browns, ochres, grays and greens. The free and spontaneous treatment of the vegetation contrasts with the more precise drawing of the architecture and gives the whole a particularly evocative atmosphere. The work bears a handwritten signature at the bottom right. It is difficult to decipher and could possibly read “G. Porhuis” / “G. Porhui” or “Fortuny”, without being possible to confirm any of these readings with certainty. The work is therefore presented as signed, artist unknown, without formal attribution. Technique: mixed technique on paper Subject: architecture and landscape with basin Dimensions: 28 × 24 cm Signature: signed bottom right, uncertain reading (“G. Porhuis / G. Porhui” or “Fortuny”) Original work The paper and its mounting show various signs of aging, including browning, stains, halos and wear. The photographs allow precise appreciation of the technique, the signature and the conservation state and are an integral part of the description. Beautiful antique work with atmospheric treatment, combining architecture, vegetation and reflections in a delicate and balanced composition.
