About the artist: Fritz Kuhr studied at the Bauhaus in Weimar and Dessau from 1923 under the artistic legends Paul Klee, Wassily Kandinsky, and László Moholy-Nagy. From 1928 he taught there himself and received Bauhaus Diploma No. 13. Under the National Socialists his works were branded as “degenerate art” and confiscated, before he was appointed professor at the Berlin University of the Arts (HdK) in 1948.
