Gaul, Tolosates Drachm au panache IIe–Ier siècles av. J.-C. (No reserve price)

Gaul – Tolosa?tes – Drachm with plume S.75 – Silver Interesting Gaulish silver coin attributed to the Tolosates, region of Old Toulouse, belonging to the monetary group of the Volques Tectosages. It is the type traditionally designated as the “drachm with plume,” referenced notably Savès 75. Characteristics People: Tolosates Region: Old Toulouse / Southwest Gaul Denomination: Drachm Type: Drachm with plume Dating: 2nd–1st centuries BC Metal: Silver Weight: 3.17 g Diameter: 15 mm Frappe (minting): ancient struck coin Obverse Stylized head facing left. The hair consists of highly stylized strands, characteristic of this issue and the origin of the traditional name “with plume.” The portrait remains readily identifiable despite normal strike irregularities and wear. Reverse Large cross pattee dividing the field into four cantons. The cantons are adorned with lunules and globules, with the presence of a small ring in one of them. The reverse is particularly legible and allows good recognition of the type. References Savès 75 La Tour 2986 BN 2976–3240 CMC 2.5.01 Condition Ancient coin that has circulated, showing: - irregular flan; - slight weakening of strike; - normal signs of age; - natural gray patina; - wear visible on some portrait details. The reverse remains particularly well preserved, with the cross and the four cantons clearly visible. The coin sold is exactly the one shown in the photographs.
