Hunting Party – Riders in Red Skirts at the Edge of the Forest Oil on canvas, signed “J. A. Herrmann”, Berlin, 1960s–1980s WORK Five riders in red skirts and black caps on brown horses and a gray horse gather on a sandy path among autumn-red heather; to the left a dense tree group, to the right birches, beyond a wide plain under a cloudy sky. Thickly impastoed and painted, with strong highlights in the path and in the clouds – a decorative hunt scene in the English style, as is common in Berlin painting houses after the war.
