In the period 1987/88, Dresden was the center of the visual arts in the GDR. The by far most formative and significant art event was the X. Art Exhibition of the GDR, which took place from October 3, 1987 to April 3, 1988 in the Albertinum and the trade fair halls at Fučíkplatz. At this showcase, as well as in the renowned Dresden galleries and museums (such as the Leonhardi Museum or Galerie Nord), numerous of the most well-known artists of that era presented their works. Condition: Top with no defects The most prominent painters and graphic artists Bernhard Heisig: Presented monumental, expressive history paintings and enjoyed great resonance at the exhibition. Willi Sitte: As long-time president of the Association of Visual Artists (VBK), one of the most influential protagonists with distinctive figurative works. Werner Tübke: Represented with detailed masterful works (simultaneously he completed his monumental painting in Bad Frankenhausen). Wolfgang Mattheuer: Quiet works with symbolic, critical landscapes and allegories (e.g., motifs such as Sisyphus or Icarus). Arno Rink & Volker Stelzmann: Important representatives of the Leipzig School. Wolfgang Peuker: His painting “A.P., born 1949” developed in 1987/88 into a central crowd-puller. Max Uhlig, Gerhard Altenbourg & Dieter Goltzsche: Represented outstanding currents of DDR graphics and drawing. Sculpture and sculpture Fritz Cremer & Jo Jastram: Leading sculptors with bronze and portrait works. Wieland Förster & Theo Balden: Represented with figurative sculptures and torso representations.
