This exquisite white gold ring exudes the optimistic spirit of the years around 1970. It presents a stunning gemstone setting arranged in the typical design language of the decade. In the realm of jewellery design, expressive arrangements with jaggedly expressive lines were popular, as we see here. Diamonds were popular as always, but they were increasingly combined with coloured stones such as rubies or, in this case, deep blue sapphires. As a cluster ring typical of the time, this piece of jewellery features an ensemble of white diamonds and sapphires on its stepped rising ring face, which seems to be scattered randomly. The sapphires are designed in an elongated navette cut, providing the radiant appearance that characterizes many jewellery pieces of this period. The gemstones are held in place by period-typical prongs, the ends of which are rounded like spheres, adding further sparkle to the ring. The interplay of quality sapphires, more than one carat of brilliant cut diamonds and high-carat white gold creates a piece of jewellery that exemplifies the dynamic design language of the time.
