Every now and then, during our forays through flea markets, at auctions, or in private estates, we come across objects that have survived only in fragments, or even individual beautiful gemstones. The precision of the craftsmanship—often exquisite even in the smallest details—and the quality of the materials strike us as so worthy of preservation that we work with our goldsmiths to determine how we can breathe new life into these elements. Here, our goldsmiths have created a pair of earrings composed of finds discovered independently: four diamonds each in settings dating c. 1900, as well as two vintage aquamarines cut to form a pair. The diamonds, in a historic diamond cut style totaling approximately 1.35 carats, are held in platinum settings and arranged in a staggered arrangement one above the other. The large aquamarines are cut in the classic step cut. Our goldsmiths have set them in simple platinum settings with yellow gold galleries and mounted them to dangle below the diamonds. 14-karat gold ear hooks make the piece wearable. To verify the quality of the materials, we commissioned an independent appraisal. It is included with the earrings.
