This is a vintage design bowl by glass artist Andries Dirk Copier, produced by Glasfabriek Leerdam. The specific model is a Serica bowl (like Serica No. 63 or a comparable tincraquelé design). The striking, fine net texture in the glass is made with the tincraquelé technique. In this process, the hot, blown glass is briefly dipped in cold water or treated with metal oxides, causing the outer glass layer to beautifully crackle without the object losing its strength. These bowls mostly originate from the period around the 1930s to the 1940s. Because most standard Serica craquelé bowls have a size of about 30 to 34 cm, the larger XL size (38 cm) offers added value among collectors. The height is 8 cm and it weighs 1170 g.
