Guido Rey - Il Monte Cervino - 1926

"The Matterhorn" - Guido Rey (Second Edition, 1926) - Hoepli I am selling a precious and rare vintage volume dedicated to the history and feats on the Matterhorn, written by the famous mountaineer and writer Guido Rey. Title: The Matterhorn Author: Guido Rey Preface: Edmondo De Amicis Illustrations: Edoardo Rubino (14 color plates, 23 pen drawings, 18 photographs) Publisher: Ulrico Hoepli - Milan Year: 1926 (Second Edition) Details and Conditions: Cover: Original editorial softcover. Pages/Trim: Signs of age and foxing visible on edges and pages (as in photo). Notes and peculiarities: This copy belonged to a well-known Italian diplomat Carlo de Ferraris Salzano, his signature at the bottom attests to ownership. As shown in the photograph, the Winter Matterhorn plate is missing. In its place, however, there is a fascinating ascent itinerary of the Matterhorn with the route taken in 1927 and the one carried out three years later in the company of Daniele Pellissier, a mountaineer, founder and skier with the Italian military patrol (1904-1972). A unique copy that testifies to the deep bond of the previous owner with the Matterhorn.
