Belt buckle in 935 silver and guilloché enamel with hand-painted roses, Art Nouveau circa 1900 Elegant belt buckle made in 935 sterling silver, decorated with guilloché enamel and a delicate hand-painted floral scene. The item dates to the Art Nouveau / Belle Époque period, its manufacture around 1900–1910. The piece is formed in two sections, both of 935 silver, hinged together by a central clasp, a characteristic feature of ladies' belt buckles from the era. The front decoration shows a bouquet of roses in pink and white hues with green foliage, painted with fine detail on a translucent guilloché enamel background in cream and ivory tones, allowing the finely engraved metal grain beneath to show through. The ensemble is framed by a pale yellow enamel border with golden dotted garlands, and a diagonal black band with white dots runs across like a ribbon. The reverse presents vermeil (gold-plated silver) with the closure mechanism and the visible hallmark. The estimated dimensions are about 6 x 7 cm per section. The condition is generally good for its age. The gilding on the reverse shows wear and patina. The painted enamel retains good color and detail, with minor enamel wear at one corner. The reverse bears the hallmark '935' indicating high-purity sterling silver (935/1000), common in German and Austrian silverware of the period, alongside the crescent moon and German guarantee crown mark, partially legible. Ladies' belt buckles in silver and guilloché enamel with floral painting are highly valued by Art Nouveau collectors, particularly for the miniature rose painting, a classic motif in jewelry and silverware from the early 20th century.
