Gustave BRYUN - Fives-Lille - Jardinière - Large planter...

Exceptional and rare large ornate jardinière in slip-decorated majolica of historicist / Art Nouveau style, produced at the end of the 19th century by the famous Fives-Lille earthenware factory (Gustave De Bruyn manufactory). This piece with a dynamic form features a fine, high-relief decoration, composed of cherubs (putti) holding garlands, centered around a superb faun mascaron (grotesque style / Green Man). The polychromy is typical of the finest French productions of the period, blending rich shades of wine-red, ochre yellow and celadon green, contrasting beautifully with an interior entirely enameled in light turquoise blue. Marks and signatures under the base: Indentation stamp: the iconic intertwined marine anchor with the initials DB (De Bruyn). Model number: 281 incised, corresponding to this mold in the factory's period catalogues, Atelier mark: handwritten letter painted by the painter-enameller. Note: 3 small chips under the underside of the rim. Like all my items offered for auction on this site, this beauty has undergone no cleaning (only dusting) and no modification since purchase. Happy bidding to all. Any damage not mentioned in the text but visible in the photos is considered described. No shipping outside the EU; if you are outside the European Union you may bid on one of my lots, however no claims will be possible in case of during-transport issues. Due to the new import/export regulations to the USA there will be no shipment to that country. Professional careful shipping, signature on delivery with insurance.
