The detailed artwork depicts a traditional genre scene with an elegant aristocratic lady or court lady in splendid attire, seated on a chair and holding a long pipe, as well as an accompanying person or a servant. Such popular export works from Guangzhou (Canton) are distinguished by their bright colorfulness and relief-like painting technique. The object shows age-related, minor damage, as seen in the accompanying photos, which underscores its authentic character.
