Unnoticed; from the Holland Handelsmerk series, a trademark under which porcelain by Gutherz also appeared. Home is worth its weight in gold, in rust-brown stencil letters around a domestic scene: a woman at the spinning wheel by the tiled fireplace. A saying board in the style of the Amsterdam School, Art Deco, circa 1920-1930. Stencil decoration, brush-coloured. For this object a Buy Now price has also been set, for those who want to acquire it immediately without waiting. On the banner six rosette flowers in cream with a pink center, connected by feathered leaves in two shades of green. Inside a block band in ochre and green. In the mirror a woman in a black jacket and green skirt at the spinning wheel. Above the fire hangs the kettle, on the mantelpiece a cabinet setting of blue-and-white vases around a candelabrum. Two clover leaves flank the saying. The plate belongs to a series of saying boards known to collectors as Holland Handelsmerk, after the brand featuring a pot-bellied stove that some boards carry. Condition: Good. Banner and edge: no chips or hairlines observed. Glaze front: a few dark specks, production-related to this serial work and no damage. Back: white, with the usual bake faults such as glaze pinpoints, also production-related. No restorations observed; the plate has not been viewed under UV light. See the images. Offered as a decorative object, not intended for use with food. In the interior: Fits in an Amsterdam School, Art Deco, or eclectic interior, above the mantel or in the kitchen. The fresh green complements white, oak, and tile work. Shipping: Professionally packed in a sturdy box with cushioning material, for fragile objects a double box. Always insured shipment with Track and Trace. See feedback from previous buyers. Attribution and sources: Holland Handelsmerk, on the basis of image comparison with the same model in the collectors’ catalog LastDodo; this specimen is unobtrusive. Holland Handelsmerk is a trademark and not a factory. Under this brand porcelain also appeared around 1915, produced by Gutherz in Altrohlau. A Mehlem plate with the same saying has a different decoration. A factory or designer is not claimed.
