Öl auf Mahagoniholz. Unten rechts signiert und datiert: Felix Hollenberg 1905. In profilierter, vergoldeter Holzleiste der Zeit. Felix Hollenberg gilt als einer der feinfühligsten Vertreter der süddeutschen Freilichtmalerei und Radierkunst um die Jahrhundertwende. Nach seinen Studien an den Akademien in Düsseldorf und Stuttgart widmete er sich intensiv der Stimmungsmalerei der Schwäbischen Alb sowie der Flussläufe Süddeutschlands. Das vorliegende, auf einem edlen Mahagoniholz-Träger ausgeführte Gemälde aus dem Jahr 1905 besticht durch seinen panoramatischen Weitblick und die meisterhafte Einfangung der atmosphärischen Abendstimmung. Im Vordergrund bilden zwei hochgewachsene Pappeln einen wirkungsvollen vertikalen Akzent zur sanft geschwungenen Hügellandschaft, durch die sich ein ruhiges Flussband zieht. Mit lockerem Pinselstrich und einer nuancierten Palette aus erdigem Grün, Ocker sowie zarten Rosa- und Goldtönen im Abendhimmel gelingt Hollenberg eine Komposition von großer natürlicher Stille. HxB: 46/58 cm. Rahmen, HxB: 65/45 cm. Originaler Gesamtzustand. Der Mahagoni-Bildträger ist sehr gut erhalten, plan und rückseitig konstruktionsbedingt stabilisiert. Signed and dated lower right: Felix Hollenberg 1905. Housed in a period molded gilt wooden frame. Felix Hollenberg is regarded as one of the most sensitive exponents of South German plein-air painting and etching at the turn of the 20th century. Following his studies at the academies in Düsseldorf and Stuttgart, he devoted himself to atmospheric landscapes of the Swabian Jura and the river valleys of southern Germany. Executed on a finely grained mahogany panel, this painting from 1905 is distinguished by its panoramic sense of space and its masterful evocation of the tranquil atmosphere of evening. In the foreground, two tall poplar trees create a striking vertical counterpoint to the gently rolling hills through which a calm river winds. With fluid brushwork and a subtle palette of earthy greens, ochres, and delicate pink and golden tones in the evening sky, Hollenberg achieves a composition of remarkable serenity and natural harmony. Dimensions: Panel: 46 × 58 cm. Framed: 65 × 45 cm. Condition: Original overall condition. The mahogany panel is very well preserved, remains flat, and is structurally reinforced on the reverse.
