Homeland - Amy Bernays

Homeland by Amy Bernays Painting 20.0 x 16.0 :: It was with a sense of freedom that we took to the hills for a mountainous trail ride in California’s Sierra Nevada. That feeling of freedom found its way into the painting. I love the contrast of the deep sky against her hat and the softness of the wild oat field billowing in the high-desert wind. There is something both peaceful and exhilarating about the landscape—the openness the wind the vastness of the sky. I can’t look at the painting without thinking of the Ukrainian flag: that brilliant blue above a field of gold. What began as a painting about my own experience of freedom has come to represent something larger. At a time when that freedom is being fought for in Ukraine I want this painting to be a small act of support for Ukrainian sovereignty and the right to live freely. I paint to find happiness. I sniff out moments of joy trying to understand what makes them joyful and why that is why I paint making windows into joyfulness. :: Type: Painting Medium: Acrylic Style: Americana Subject: Animals Width: 20.0 Height: 16.0 Depth: 0.5 Weight: 5 lbs Framed: yes :: All art on Zatista is original and signed.
