Hourglass - Peltre - 1950-1960 - Pewter hourglass

Ancient three-column hourglass in pewter, with heraldic bases dated 1636 Elegant historical-style hourglass, made in pewter with a dark, aged finish, characterized by an architectural structure of three turned columns that support both bases and surround the glass ampoules. Its design combines the functionality of a time-measuring instrument with the ornamental richness of a decorative piece inspired by antiquity. The clock features two transparent glass ampoules, joined by a narrow central constriction through which the sand of dark pink color flows. The metal structure stands out for its worked columns, embossed decorative details, and the circular bases, richly ornamented. Both bases display heraldic motifs and Latin inscriptions, with quartered shields, castles, lions and crowns, lending a pronounced historical and collectible character. One of them bears the date 1636, becoming one of the most striking details of the piece. The ensemble offers a sober and distinguished aesthetics, with an attractive patina that enhances the reliefs and the aged look of the metal. It is a suitable piece for collectors of hourglasses, historical objects, time-measuring instruments, and decorative arts inspired by heraldry. The hourglass works perfectly, with a correct flow of sand between the two glass chambers. It is recommended to examine the photographs to appreciate the ornamental details, inscriptions, the pewter patina, and the general state of preservation. A decorative piece with great visual presence, especially interesting for its three-column structure and its two heraldic-inspired bases.
