Impressive Torsade Necklace Made of Coral, Lapis Lazuli & Akoya Pearls, c. 1985

In the 1980s, power dressing was the order of the day. Bold colors and strong lines defined the wardrobe, which complemented the new self-confident image of the business woman. In jewellery, this concern was reflected in large, solid designs, often made of polished yellow gold, set with white diamonds and often brightly colored stones. Strands of pearls were often combined with precious stones and worked into creations that had never been seen before. The present necklace, which came to us from an impressive Stuttgart collection of author's jewelry, is a child of this development. A large clasp made from two curved, blue enameled rings of high-carat gold holds a total of 38 strands of lapis lazuli, Mediterranean coral and creamy white Akoya pearls. The individual pearls are perfectly round and evenly selected and cut. The result is a tricolore in the colors of France. The necklace can be worn wrapped or loose, just as you like it. A piece of jewellery that radiates self-confidence and at the same time celebrates the joy of color, shape and material.
