Exceptional Italian Mid-Century coffee service in natural banded onyx, dating from approximately the 1960s–1970s. The complete service consists of 13 pieces: - 6 coffee cups - 6 matching saucers - 1 lidded sugar bowl Each individual piece has been crafted from natural polished onyx, making every cup and saucer genuinely unique. No two pieces are identical: the stone displays beautiful variations of honey, amber, caramel, cream, soft pink, brown and ivory, with striking natural bands and translucent areas. The polished stone is complemented by elaborate gilt-metal fittings and sculptural scroll handles, giving the service an elegant and distinctly Italian decorative character. The lidded sugar bowl forms the centrepiece of the set and is beautifully proportioned in relation to the cups and saucers. One of the most remarkable aspects of this service is its exceptional state of preservation. The set has never been used and has been carefully stored for decades. No chips or cracks are detectable, and there are no significant signs of use. The polished surfaces retain a beautiful lustre and showcase the natural depth, translucency and individual veining of the stone. Because onyx is a natural material, each of the 13 elements has its own pattern, colour distribution and degree of translucency.
