J. Berchoux - La Gastronomie poëme

Fascinating edition of this major poetic and gastronomic work of French literature dedicated to the art of good eating, which notably helps popularize the word “gastronomy” in its modern sense in the early 19th century - Presented in the form of a didactic poem, the text seeks to transform the table into a true literary subject by linking the pleasures of food to the arts, to culture, to sociability and to reflection on manners - Berchoux does not content himself with listing foods or giving recipes, but undertakes to celebrate the entirety of the gastronomic universe by describing products, meals, culinary preparations, good table manners and the pleasures of conviviality.
