Description: This large-format and impressive oil painting by the Dutch artist Jan Bernhard Meinen from 1975 captivates with its fascinating visual language placed between magical realism and surrealism. In the foreground, a graphically precise chessboard pattern in strong blue and black tones draws the viewer into the depth of the image. The classical balustrade serves as an aesthetic boundary between the geometric order of the architecture and the organicexpanse of a mystically inclined mountain landscape. Flanking the scene are delicate, dark plant silhouettes that give the motif additional spatial depth and a framing character. What stands out especially is the consistent, monochrome color palette: shades of deep midnight blue, turquoise, and light blues create a cool, almost silent and dreamlike atmosphere. The craftsmanship of the light and shadow on the terrace floor underscores the high artistic quality of Meinen's work. On the back, an originally preserved label documents the authenticity of the work without gaps, including title, dating, and artist attribution. An extraordinary collector’s item for lovers of Dutch realism and 1970s art, which due to its size and color intensity makes a striking accent in any room.
