Toorop originally conceived this impressive work in 1914 for the chapel of the Sint-Franciscushuis in Amsterdam. The print stands out for Toorop's unique and recognizable Art Nouveau/Art Deco line, in which the apostles are depicted in a rhythmic, expressive sequence around Christ.
