Japanese stoneware chawan (tea bowl) for the Japanese tea ceremony, handcrafted by Akao Tōzō. The interior is beautifully hand-painted with the classic Takarabune (Treasure Ship) motif with coloured pigments and gold detailing, a symbol of good fortune and prosperity in Japan. White crackled glaze (natural craquelure as part of the making process), simple blue line on the rim. Hand-thrown body, artist's signature mark on the base. Comes with original paper box. Condition: Good vintage condition. Natural craquelure in glaze, no chips, hairlines or restorations.
