Original Japanese enamel sign originating from the bicycle industry. At the center is a stylized cyclist, surrounded by Japanese text. The large text 「技術検定合格の店」 can be freely translated as: “a shop that has passed the technical competency examination.” Such signs were used by bicycle shops to indicate that the business or the staff met certain technical requirements or professional standards. At the bottom there are references to Japanese bicycle and inspection organizations, including an industry association from Iwate Prefecture. The sign features a strong graphic design in green, white, and dark blue, with a typical Japanese vintage look. Probably dating from the Showa period, second half of the 20th century. Condition: authentic used condition with signs of aging, minor damage and rust along the edges and around the mounting holes. The image and inscriptions are still clearly visible.
