Impressive Baroque Revival/19th Century Table Centerpiece - a cup on a foot in Art silvered metal and gilded bronze with Putti fighting and serpents. Large ornamental table centerpiece, a pedestal cup on a foot with two handles. Rich eclectic Revival Baroque/Rococo style (likely late 19th century), characterized by undulating shapes, volutes and lavish decorations. Art-silvered metal (pewter or silvered alloy), patinated and oxidized by time, with a matte finish. Sculptural elements in chased and gilded bronze, with the gilding worn by time and patina worn, which highlights the details. The most distinctive and fascinating element. Each handle depicts a putto (full-length angel), portrayed in a theatrical and vigorous pose of fighting and taming serpents that coil around the handle itself. The sculpture is very detailed and dynamic. An elaborate foot with complex Baroque volutes, enriched by additional putti figures and mascarons, which seem to support the stem of the cup. Just below the upper rim of the cup, a decorative band in gilded bronze applied, with scenes of festive putti, masks and vegetal motifs. The interior is smooth but features a central round plaque finely chased in gilded bronze. Depicts four putti arranged radially in pastoral/mythological scenes (one with a garland, one who seems to play a horn or bow, one with an object not clearly defined, and one central smaller), surrounded by a radiating spoke-like motif.
