Jimi Hendrix Experience - Hollywood Bowl August 18

A historic first-ever release of The Jimi Hendrix Experience's legendary Hollywood Bowl performance from 18 August 1967, issued in 2023 by Experience Hendrix / Legacy Recordings (catalogue 19658831551) on 150-gram audiophile vinyl, mastered by Bernie Grundman and restored by legendary engineer Eddie Kramer. This concert holds profound significance in Hendrix history. Recorded just five days before the US release of Are You Experienced, the performance captured the Experience at a pivotal moment, playing to an audience of over 17,000 at the Hollywood Bowl—many of whom had come primarily for the headlining Mamas & The Papas. For decades this extraordinary documentation remained entirely unreleased, never even circulating as a bootleg, making its official arrival on vinyl a major archival achievement. The two-track recording encompasses a stunning mix of Hendrix originals and audacious interpretations of material by The Beatles, Bob Dylan, Howlin' Wolf, Muddy Waters and The Troggs, including "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band," "Killing Floor," "The Wind Cries Mary," "Foxey Lady," "Catfish Blues," "Fire," "Like a Rolling Stone," "Purple Haze" and "Wild Thing." ⸻ Sleeve (NM): A beautiful Near Mint example, showing only the slightest possible signs of storage or handling. The vibrant artwork remains fresh and pristine throughout → NM Vinyl (M): Completely unplayed and remaining in superb Mint condition → M ⸻ Details * First-ever official release of this concert * Experience Hendrix / Legacy Recordings * Catalogue 19658831551 * Released 2023 * Hollywood Bowl, 18 August 1967 * Restored by Eddie Kramer * Mastered by Bernie Grundman * 150-gram audiophile vinyl
