Introduction José Soler: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6xmToe0GrYo Explanation of the work: Steel is one of the hardest and most resistant materials we have. As a master of steel, I’m used to feeling its toughness and strength, and when I see that force represented in the essence of metal sculptures. But with this new collection I want to do the opposite, something even more challenging: to imbue sensitivity and to fool the viewer by showing a sculpture made of hard, resisting steel that looks like silk, that seems delicate and elegant, simple yet refined, but at the same time visually powerful. They are pieces of stainless steel finished with reliefs and with meticulous attention paid to every detail. With them I seek a more relaxed elegance and the desire to create a deception in the viewer’s mind, like an optical trompe-l’œil. They are forged works with the utmost care, in an idyllic setting, in full connection with steel and art. They are born with the sound of every fold, of strength and delicacy, and from there flow the notes of their movements, apparently wrinkled and open. I am drawn to artisanal and groundbreaking designs, so with these vertical, wall-mounted sculptures I focus on becoming part of a new reality, where I seek color, texture, and sinuous shapes. Who would say this is steel? These sculptures, magically crumpled in appearance, make me worship this primitive material, for it makes everything possible, without limits to creation or creativity. Even steel can look as light as silk. The piece plays with a mirror-like effect that makes light bounce and creates spectacular light and shadow plays, forming a sculpture at the forefront of contemporary art. They hang easily like a picture. Shipping 100% insured with GLS José Soler is a Spanish-based sculptor whose works have been exhibited nationally, as well as in Monaco, Italy, and France. Through each of his pieces, he strives to bring out the melody that lives inside each of us. Soler cites the transformation of cold steel into sculpture as his way of connecting with what is invisible to our eyes and what can only be perceived with universal feelings. - Diploma in Technical Architecture. - Degree in Building Engineering. - Program for European Projects in the Cultural and Creative Sector - Official Artisan of the Region of Murcia Subsidies received: -2021: Development of the project “Steel Silk.” Economic aid, in a regime of competitive concurrence, aimed at professionals in the plastic and visual arts for the development of projects.
