Joseph Telling His Dreams Rembrandt Harmensz. van Rijn

A very fine, sharp lifetime impression of New Hollstein’s third state (of six), with the additional shading in the upper part of the curtain and elsewhere. All the fine lines printing clearly and distinctly, without any signs of wear, as characteristic of the earliest impressions of this subject. Printed with light, even plate tone; with thread margins around the platemark. – The paper slightly thinned at the upper right edge, with a short closed tear nearby. A tiny, restored hole to the left of the seated man’s knee. Verso with remnants of old adhesive tape. Otherwise in very good condition. | 1606 Leiden - Amsterdam 1669 | 15.-18. Jahrhundert | Druckgrafik | Nummer: 26x1675 | Provenance: Sir Byron Edmund Walker (1848–1924), Toronto; Art Gallery of Ontario, Toronto, in 1926.
