JUDAICA - Bishop Joseph-Marie GRAVERAN (1793–1855, Bishop of Quimper from 1840 to 1855) / Signed autograph letter, 1 p. in-8 mounted on a tab on an album page, with the letterhead “Diocese of Quimper,” November 18, 1846, to his “dear Parish Priest”: “I authorize Mr. Balcon, your vicar, and in his absence, another priest of your choosing, to receive the abjuration of the young Jew mentioned in your letter. I thank you for the details you have provided regarding Mother J. and her conduct. I will consider whether there is cause to take any action, or at least to inform Bishop d’Autun. I take your letter to mean that the information is positive and certain, and not mere rumors without proof. I hope that you will soon be rid of your bad companion.”
