JULIEN JOSEPH DUCORRON (BELGIAN 1770-1848) PASTORAL LANDSCAPE WITH CATTLE RESTING BY A RIVER Oil on panel Signed and dated '1817' (lower left) 53.5 x 74cm (21 x 29in.) Provenance: Sale, Vendu Rotterdam, Rotterdam, Art and Antiques, Jewellery, Watches, Silver, 13 November 2018, lot 108 Condition Report: A rectangular strut support has been inserted to the panel (verso) (see online images) which corresponds with a repaired area of cracking (approx. 15cm) to the upper left quadrant (recto). Associated over-paint and in-filling is visible in a natural light. There is another diagonal line of repair (approx. 5cm) to the hillside at the right edge. Again, the associated over-paint is visible in a natural light and there is some light lifting to the pigment. Fine craquelure throughout with some areas in danger of lifting.There is a small area of loss (approx. 2mm) to the lower leaves at the left edge . Rubbing and abrasions to the framing edges. Light surface scratching and scuffs throughout. Inspection under UV light reveals light scattered retouching and in-filling throughout, together with restoration to the aforementioned areas of repair. With traces of a green cloudy varnish.
