La Filotecnica - Topographic theodolite - Iron - 1940-1950

Vintage theodolite, used to measure azimuthal and zenith angles in surveying Vintage model, probably dating from the first half of the 20th century Theodolites were fundamental for map-making, navigation, and in large engineering projects such as the construction of tunnels and railways Precision topographic instrument mainly used to measure horizontal angles (azimuths) and vertical angles (zeniths) between different fixed points. Although the first models date back to the 16th century, they were perfected in the 1700s by makers such as Jesse Ramsden to achieve the precision required for geodetic triangulation History: La Filotecnica was founded in 1865 by Ignazio Porro, based in Milan, for the construction of optical and measuring instruments, especially for topographic and geodetic use. Initially, more than a real company it was a "school-workshop" whose production was limited to experimental pieces, unique or at most reproduced in very few copies. Subsequently, control of the company was taken over by Angelo Salmoiraghi, who established it as the leading Italian company in the sector with the new name Filotecnica Salmoiraghi. Tracked shipment
