Magnificent grand platter signed LALIQUE France, famous model “Honfleur,” created by Marc Lalique in 1949, made in clear molded-pressed crystal of remarkable luminosity and surrounded by a spectacular crown of satin geranium leaves sculpted in deep relief. This elegant creation is distinguished by its wide border entirely animated with geranium leaves, arranged in a generous vegetal crown all around the platter. The satin and frosted treatment of the foliage wonderfully brings out the veins and the delicate shaping of each leaf, while the center, left perfectly transparent, catches and plays with the light, giving the whole piece a great depth. The subtle contrast between the dazzling transparency of the crystal and the almost velvety softness of the frosted decor perfectly illustrates the remarkable expertise of the Lalique House. Created in 1949, the Honfleur model possesses, with its abundant vegetal ornamentation and its leaves that seem to unfold one after another around the crystal, all the freshness of nature and that timeless elegance characteristic of Lalique creations.
