Lapis lazuli – Necklace of Nobility – Floriated Cross –...

Lapis lazuli – Necklace of Nobility – Fleuronned Cross – The Depths of the Heavens – Light of Redemption This religious necklace with a noble and solemn character is distinguished by the harmony of its natural lapis-lazuli stones, paired with a grand gilded cross richly worked, a symbol of faith, spiritual protection, and Christian hope. Of singular composition, it is adorned with 45 lapis-lazuli beads, alternating round and tubular shapes, whose regular arrangement gives the jewel a majestic and balanced appearance. The stones, carefully polished, reveal a beautiful diversity of shades, ranging from deep ultramarine blue to midnight blue, punctuated with grayish zones and lighter natural veining. Some exhibit a cloudy, sedimented appearance, characteristic of mineral variations of lapis-lazuli, giving each bead a unique look. The round beads, with smooth, slightly shiny surfaces, elegantly contrast with the elongated tubular elements, creating an original visual rhythm and an uncommon succession of shapes. Delicate gold elements, finely chiseled, disposed between the stones, emphasise the depth of their blue hues and enrich the whole with a luminous touch. At the center of this composition unfolds a large gilded Latin cross, thick-bodied and generously worked, whose assertive presence constitutes the centerpiece of the necklace. Its four arms, slightly flared toward their ends, terminate in angular tips with finely textured triangular decorations. The surface of the cross features stylized vegetal motifs, engraved in relief, forming elegant arabesques that extend harmoniously over each of its arms. Its prominent central relief, its sculpted lines, and its luminous gold finish give it a particularly expressive appearance. The upper part is extended by a wide, ornate bale, whose decorative motifs ensure a beautiful continuity with those of the cross. The vegetal ornaments enriching this cross can also evoke, in symbolic reading, renewed life, spiritual growth, and the promise of eternal life. Lapis lazuli: Lapis lazuli is a stone of wisdom and truth, admired since antiquity for the intensity of its blue; it occupies a special place in the history of civilizations and sacred arts. Its deep color, reminiscent of the celestial vault, has long been associated with wisdom, truth, and the spiritual dimension of existence. In Christian iconography, blue is notably linked to the Virgin Mary, purity, and divine contemplation. According to symbolic traditions attached to stones, lapis lazuli is also associated with inner peace, discernment, and spiritual elevation. The combination of the lapis lazuli’s deep blue and the cross’s golden radiance gives birth to a necklace of character, uniting mineral elegance, ornamental richness, and Christian symbolism.
